Amy Carpenter has worked with Erickson Living since the early 2000’s providing planning, design and architectural services for their care center buildings on multiple campuses in nine different states. Bowen Landing at Wind Crest is a major expansion to the care center on this campus, outside Denver, CO, and one in a series of five similar buildings.
This four-story building provides 85 Assisted Living and 24 Memory care apartments as well as a variety of amenity spaces. A one-story connector to the existing building was created to move the main entrance and administrative offices into the new building, allowing for a new dining venue to be connected to the existing commercial kitchen. This saved the Owner the expense of creating a new commercial kitchen to serve this new building; something they previously did not think would be possible.
A beautifully landscaped and programmed courtyard wraps around wings of the new building, connecting the new building to the existing, and provides a great opportunity for residents to freely enjoy the outdoors, and view to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The courtyard includes a Bocce court, a large-format gas fireplace, a variety of seating areas and a trellis strung with lights, proving a cozy spot to watch the sun set. Large outdoor porch areas were also created on the upper floors, including a dedicated, landscaped, roof garden to provide the fourth floor memory care residents direct access to the outdoors.
