Bay Village of Sarasota – The Tides Memory Care Household

In response to a campus-wide feasibility study, Bay Village created The Tides—a stand-alone memory care household designed for intimacy, innovation, and compassion. Located just a quarter mile from the main campus, this 14-unit residence features two clusters of private bedrooms centered around shared dining and kitchen spaces that open into a multi-sensory garden. The garden includes zones inspired by Florida life: a butterfly garden, shaded beachgrass lounge, and a water wall with a sensory sand bed. The building’s layout supports intuitive wayfinding, with every room offering views of common areas and nature. Tunable LED lighting mimics natural daylight cycles, enhancing mood and sleep. Life skills vignettes offer self-directed engagement, and a dedication plaque at the entrance captures the mission: “‘Memories are like the tide…sometimes they’re near and full of life. Other times they’re distant and quiet.” The Tides is a nurturing space where residents, families, and caregivers honor memory with dignity and grace.
